Girl Born Without Hands Wins Penmanship Award

Anaya Ellick from Virginia -old was born without hands, but her love of penmanship and determination has led her to win two prestigious awards for Excellence in Manuscript Penmanship in 2014, 2016 and 2018.

To write, Anaya strategically holds the pencil with both forearms. She’s fairly independent at home as well, her parents told CNN affiliate WTKR.

“She ties her shoes. She gets dressed by herself. She doesn’t really need any assistance to do anything,” said her mom, Bianca Middleton. “I just like writing in cursive,” the 9-year-old told CBN News.  “If I’m sad and I draw it makes me feel happy.”
