Flying Machine Lets You Soar With Birds

Imagine soaring alongside migrating geese high in the sky in an ultralight plane or even a hot air balloon! Introducing former meteorologist, Christian Moullec who turned his dream guiding vulnerable birds on safe migration routes into reality!

“Today, weather permitting, he soars with birds on an almost daily basis,” National Geographic.

He credits Bill Lishman, who was the first person to conduct an aircraft-led migration of birds using an ultralight as his inspiration.

Moullec has been doing the same ever since he learned that lesser white-fronted geese were struggling with their migration from Germany to Sweden. In 1995, he took to the skies to help them

“In 1995 I wanted to reintroduce lesser white-fronted geese into the wild in Lapland,

Moullec tells National Geographic. And so he began raising orphaned ones and adapted a two-seater ultralight aircraft to guide them on safe migration.

He believes the use of chemicals in agriculture is the cause of the disappearing migratory birds in Europe and is using his photography to raise awareness.

Along with being a guardian angel to many of these migrating birds, Moullec also offers tourist ride-along to support his efforts and document his work as an aid to conservation.

“The most beautiful thing is to fly in the heavens with the angels that are the birds.
