A Hit of Pixar History

As per the book To Infinity and Beyond, Alvy Ray Smith came up with the word “Pixar” as a verb meaning “to make pictures.”

Then co-founder Loren Carpenter suggested replacing “er” with “ar” like in the word “radar” which has a high tech feel.

This was done initially to name the Pixar Image Computer when it was part of Lucas film and later Pixar the animation studio which was brought by Disney in 2006.
