Teddy Bear Hockey Toss Hits All-Time Record

Teddy Bear Hockey Toss Hits All-Time Record

The heartwarming Hershey Bears 2018 Teddy Bear Toss has broken a new record with nearly 35,000 stuffed animals thrown onto the ice on Sunday at the Giant Centre in Pennsylvania.

The Teddy Bear Toss takes place every year across minor professional and junior hockey arenas, as fans are invited to bring stuffed toys to the game and hurl them over the boards when the home team scores its first goal.

Those teddy bears and other assorted stuffed animals are then donated to children in need, in time for the holidays. The Teddy Bear Toss is an annual tradition where hockey fans throw stuffed animals onto the ice after the first goal to donate to charity.

The concept originated with the Kamloops Blazers in 1993. The tradition spread quickly through the  Canadian Hockey League, and around the world; excluding the National Hockey League, which discourages anything thrown on the ice

The night also produced tens of thousands of dollars in monetary donations. Pennsylvania charity CommunityAid had pledged to donate 50 cents per stuffed animal thrown (up to $15,000) and an anonymous season ticket holder pledged $1 per stuffed animal.

You can see a video of the record breaking moment below.

Highest Altitude Restaurant

Highest Altitude Restaurant

Highest Altitude Restaurant

Today we take a look at the highest altitude pop up restaurant in the world, we hope you’re hungry!

Nothing works up an appetite like hiking!

If you happen to be hiking the Himalayas, you could be in luck!

At 5,585 m (18,323 ft) up on Island Peak (Imja Tse) mountain, Trisagion is the world’s Highest altitude pop-up restaurant, and fine-dining to top it off!

You Have To Earn Your Meal

Operated by Indian chefs Sanjay Thakur and Soundararajan, the restaurant’s name means “organic nature” in Sanskrit. The restaurant also requires an eight-day climb where you enjoy your well-earned meal in the pristine Himalayas.

Sanjay’s dream behind Triyagyoni is to raise awareness of the sustainability of the Himalayas’ natural resources. The restaurant dining area consists of wooden furniture in a tent and is run off solar energy.

Dining there means you are treated to an eight-course meal!  That includes dishes like: shishno garlic, Himalayan roll, dal Bhatt, fish salad, chicken, pannacotta by nak milk, bassa fillet and a cheese platter!

This amazing restaurant can be reached three different ways: a four-day journey using a helicopter for a transfer to and from the restaurant; a nine-day journey trekking one way and flying the rest of the journey by helicopter or as a seven-day trek journey.

At the age of eight, Aaron, who hails from Las Vegas, Nevada, began using a wheelchair for mobility. His condition, spina bifida, caused him to lose the ability to utilize his legs. But relying on a wheelchair didn’t deter him from reaching his goal to become a professional athlete.

“When I was a kid I dreamed about being a pro-skater or a pro-BMX rider, I just loved watching X Games,” he said. “I was born with spinal bifida and it gave me a different set of wheels to try and make it happen.”

“First time I ever dropped into a skate park, I was 8 years old. From that point, I was completely hooked on it and kept chasing it.”

Through his successful attempts and passion for WCMX, Aaron now adds new titles to his impressive roster. He currently holds the the First landed wheelchair backflip (in 2008), and Highest ramp jump by wheelchair (60 cm in 2010), and the Longest duration balancing a side wheelie(manual wheelchair) (18.22 seconds in 2012) titles.

Slimy Guinness World Records

Slimy Guinness World Records

YouTube group BomBom TV has taken on a slime challenge for Guinness World Records Day (GWR Day) November 8th, 2018.

The group is familiar with the substance having used it in previous science experiment videos with one member, Yocchi, making slime on numerous occasions Yocchi calls himself “the slimer” and found a way to put his slime expertise to the test by attempting two record titles for GWR Day.

For the solo attempt, Yocchi had to beat the previous record of 2.23 m (7 ft 4 in). Despite a slight fluster during the attempt, he had managed to stretch the slime to 3.87 m (12 ft 8.36 in), thus breaking the record.

“If anyone ever beats my record, I’ll take it off them straight away,” he declared

For the group attempt, eight members from BomBom TV had to stretch a slime weighing 2 kg to the length of at least 5 m. Learning from Yocchi’s solo attempt, the team came up with a great strategy, where some members pick up the slime and others stretch them.

While they were able to stretch the slime to impressive lengths, some members did not let go of the slime after 30 seconds. Because of this, their first and second attempts were unfortunately disqualified.

For the third attempt, the team was careful and let go of the slime well before 30 seconds had passed. And with an impressive length of 13.78 m (45 ft 2.51 in), their great team effort was awarded a Guinness World Records title.

Members were ecstatic after receiving two official certificates and thanked Yocchi for creating the “perfect” slime for the attempt.

“I’m glad we’ve been making slimes all these days,” replied Yocchi.

Magical Bubble Festival

Magical Bubble Festival

Magical Bubble Festival

Bubbles are one of the world’s most magical things that have remained loved by generations. If anything, bubbles are sparking the minds of both creative and scientific folks and are even more popular today!

On 23 September 2018, the award-winning bubble-toy company Dr. Zigs Extraordinary Bubbles organized two outdoor Guinness World Records attempts – for the most people making giant bubbles using tri-string wands and then the most people making bubbles with garland wands.

For these attempts, Dr. Zigs used 300 liters of their “Dragon-Juice” bubble mix and handed out 400 of their giant wands and 400 of their multi-wands. More than 300 people – including 80 of the world’s most celebrated “bubbleologists” from countries as far away as Argentina, New Zealand, Malaysia and Israel – descended on the iconic Caernarfon Castle in Gwynedd, Wales, UK to support the event, and filled the bailey of the medieval fortress with thousands of bubbles.

The magical and memorable record attempts, hosted by Dr. Zigs as part of the Bubble Daze conference, were just two of the many events organized for the World Bubble Festival 2018. Most of the bubble wands that were used in this video will now be heading out to children in need as part of the Dr. Zigs Bubbles Not Bombs project.

World Record: Batman Costume

World Record: Batman Costume

World Record: Batman Costume

Check out this “super” Guinness World Record Batman costume is adorned with 23 functioning gadgets on its cosplay suit! Devices include smoke bombs, a grapnel gun, and ‘bat tracker’, a UV lamp, NBC (nuclear, bacterial, chemical) bat respirator, and even a bat sign projector!

“The detail and imagination behind the gadgets take the meaning of cosplay to a whole new level.” – Stephen Daltrey, Editor of the Guinness World Records

Created by special creature effects expert Julian Checkley, the ingenious gadgets are concealed and attached to the Batman suit. Based on Bruce Wayne’s outfit from the Batman: Arkham Origins video game, the suit was 3D printed and then molded and cast in flexible urethane rubber.

The 23 gadgets increased in complexity as his project progressed and Julian enlisted the help of an electrical engineer to create the most challenging gadget – the 2000-watt EMP Stun Gun. The parts were then trimmed, detailed, and painted, before being mounted on an especially designed undersuit. It was then applied to Julian’s body cast, suitably weathered using dirty earthy colors, and was ready to fight crime on the streets of Gotham City. When fully kitted out, Julian strikes an imposing figure, towering over 6”10’ (208cm), the bat ears make a difference!

“There were many long hours trying to devise the gadgets and finding ways to store them on the suit. They are classic gadgets but also some are specific to Batman: Arkham Origins. I am immensely proud of my Guinness World Records title!” – Julain Checkly
