Hägar the Horrible is one of the most popular comic strips. Learn more about Richard Arthur “Dik” Browne, the creator of Hägar the Horrible.
Hägar the Horrible broke all records when it was launched on Feb. 4, 1973, becoming the fastest-growing comic strip ever.
“Dik” Browne got his start drawing courtroom sketches for New York newspapers; debuted a military strip, Ginny Jeep, for servicemen after entering the Army in 1942.
Following an advertising stint where he created the Chiquita Banana logo, he was asked to tackle art duties on the 1954 Beetle Bailey spinoff strip Hi and Lois.
When he felt the urge to create his own strip in 1973, Browne thought back to how his children called him “Hägar the Horrible” when he would playfully chase them around the house.
The little red-bearded Viking has appeared in advertisements for IBM, Mug Root Beer, and Skol Ale, and in the opening titles for the TV show “Caroline in the City,” which starred actress Lea Thompson as a successful female cartoonist.
Hagar has appeared on his own CBS special and is featured in Universal’s Islands of Adventure: Toon Lagoon theme park.
The strip now appears in about 1,900 newspapers around the world. It appears in 56 countries and is translated into 12 languages and is now drawn by Dik’s son, Chris Browne. Scroll down to see some classic Hagar the Horrible comics.

When most of us picture dinosaurs we picture them shades of green and scaly, much like they have been depicted to us over the years in books and films.
New evidence has shown that some of the dinosaurs were actually feathered! There is still much to be debated which dinosaurs looked like what but it sure is fun to wonder!
“Dinosaurs are related to birds and reptiles, so it makes sense that they would share similar traits. But, does that mean dinosaurs also had feathers? Has Jurassic Park been wrong all this time?” Cheddar

YouTube group BomBom TV has taken on a slime challenge for Guinness World Records Day (GWR Day) November 8th, 2018.
The group is familiar with the substance having used it in previous science experiment videos with one member, Yocchi, making slime on numerous occasions Yocchi calls himself “the slimer” and found a way to put his slime expertise to the test by attempting two record titles for GWR Day.
For the solo attempt, Yocchi had to beat the previous record of 2.23 m (7 ft 4 in). Despite a slight fluster during the attempt, he had managed to stretch the slime to 3.87 m (12 ft 8.36 in), thus breaking the record.
“If anyone ever beats my record, I’ll take it off them straight away,” he declared

For the group attempt, eight members from BomBom TV had to stretch a slime weighing 2 kg to the length of at least 5 m. Learning from Yocchi’s solo attempt, the team came up with a great strategy, where some members pick up the slime and others stretch them.
While they were able to stretch the slime to impressive lengths, some members did not let go of the slime after 30 seconds. Because of this, their first and second attempts were unfortunately disqualified.
For the third attempt, the team was careful and let go of the slime well before 30 seconds had passed. And with an impressive length of 13.78 m (45 ft 2.51 in), their great team effort was awarded a Guinness World Records title.
Members were ecstatic after receiving two official certificates and thanked Yocchi for creating the “perfect” slime for the attempt.
“I’m glad we’ve been making slimes all these days,” replied Yocchi.

Hans Zimmer born 12 September 1957) is a German film score composer and record producer. Since the 1980s, he has composed music for over 150 films. His works include The Lion King, for which he won the Academy Award for Best Original Score in 1995, the Pirates of the Caribbean series, Interstellar, Gladiator, Inception and The Dark Knight Trilogy.
Although he is considered music genius having composed more than 150 film soundtracks, he had only two weeks of formal music education, having piano lessons as a child, as he disliked the discipline of formal lessons. “My father died when I was just a child, and I escaped somehow into the music and music has been my best friend”, he said in an interview with the German television station ZDF in 2006.
Zimmer spent the early part of his career in the United Kingdom before moving to the United States. He is the head of the film music division at DreamWorks studios and works with other composers through the company that he founded, Remote Control Productions, formerly known as Media Ventures. His studio in Santa Monica, California has an extensive range of computer equipment and keyboards, allowing demo versions of film scores to be created quickly.
Zimmer’s works are notable for integrating electronic music sounds with traditional orchestral arrangements. He has received four Grammy Awards, three Classical BRIT Awards, two Golden Globes, and an Academy Award. He was also named on the list of Top 100 Living Geniuses, published by The Daily Telegraph. Anthony Mancinelli who turned 107 years old this year takes pride and joy in being the world’s oldest barber.
Born in 1911 near Naples, Italy, and eight years later sailed to the United States with his family, arriving in New York on September 11, 1919 and began cutting hair at just ten years old in 1921. He remembers it well, recalling how a haircut only cost you 25 cents.
He has now worked at that barbershop for an incredible 97 years! When asked about retirement, he replied, “Why would I?”
He’s considered one of the most reliable employees at the salon, cutting hair five days a week for 8 hours a day.
“He never calls in sick,” Fantastic Cuts owner Jane Dinezza said. “I have young people with knee and back problems, but he just keeps going. He can do more haircuts than a 20-year-old kid. They’re sitting there looking at their phones, texting or whatever, and he’s working.”
