Words Of Wisdom – Albert Einstein

Words Of Wisdom – Albert Einstein

Words Of Wisdom – Albert Einstein

Albert Einstein is known as one of the greatest minds in history, it’s no surprise he was also filled with many words of wisdom!

When someone says the word genius, most of us conjure up an image of the iconic Albert Einstein with good reason.

He is one of the world’s most influential scientists and inventors in the world, developing the theory of relativity, one of the two pillars of modern physics alongside quantum mechanics.

In The Beginning

Born in 1979 in Germany, he didn’t talk until he was four years old, and even then he would repeat words and sentences over and over again until he was seven.

His father gave him a simple pocket compass when he was five, which became his favorite toy and led to him developing a passionate curiosity about mathematics, science, and magnetism.

He had no interest in grammar and he loved playing the violin and the piano. Albert said, “If I were not a physicist, I would probably be a musician as I often think in music. I live my daydreams in music and I see my life in terms of music…

I do know that I get most joy in life out of my violin.” Einstein struggled with authority and discipline, leading him to be expelled from a school, one headmaster saying “nothing would ever come of him.”

How wrong they were, by sixteen the budding genius would publish his first scientific paper.

The Famous Theories

In 1915 he rocked the world with his Theory of Relativity. In 1919 the theory was proven right by an experiment.

He became famous literally overnight and all of a sudden he got invitations to go all over the place, as well as getting honors from all over the world!

He received the 1921 Nobel Prize in Physics “for his services to theoretical physics, and especially for his discovery of the law of the photoelectric effect”, a pivotal step in the development of quantum theory.

Besides a love of logical things, Einstein also enjoyed nature and music. One of his favorite things to do was to head out onto the lake in a boat and take his notebook with him, to think and write everything down.

He couldn’t swim at all, but he carried on sailing right throughout his life.

There are plenty more great insight posts in Words of Wisdom.

Five Magical Nebulas

Five Magical Nebulas

What exactly is a Nebula? Nasa explains them like this:

“A nebula is a giant cloud of dust and gas in space. Some nebulae (more than one nebula) come from the gas and dust thrown out by the explosion of a dying star, such as a supernova.” NASA

Most nebulae are of vast size, some are hundreds of light years in diameter. A nebula that is barely visible to the human eye from Earth would appear larger, but no brighter, from close by.

Interesting Infographic On Gravity

Interesting Infographic On Gravity

Interesting Infographic On Gravity

The physics behind gravity largely determines the make-up of Earth, with tides, weather formations, transport and beyond all determined by our attraction to Earth’s surface.

But, when gravity leaves us, why do we float?. What would life be without gravity?

When asked about what it feels like to walk on the moon at one-sixth of Earth’s gravity, Buzz Aldrin once described the atmosphere as being filled with “magnificent desolation”.

He explained what it felt like to take each step, saying it’s “perhaps not too far from a trampoline, but without the springiness and instability”.

When NASA’s Scott Kelly returned from almost a full year in space seemingly grew two inches while he was up there for a still unexplainable reason.

As fun as experiencing no gravity sounds and looks, there can be some unwanted side effects resulting from it. Lean about “The Science of Weightlessness” in this interesting infographic created by Security Scale Service.

The Secret World Of Sand

Discover the amazing & fascinating secret world of sand with this cool educational video by Deep Look that takes microscopic looks at sand!

By studying the composition and texture of sand, geologists can reconstruct its incredible life history.

“There’s a story in every grain of sand: tales of life and death, fire and water. If you scooped up a handful of sand from every beach, you’d have a history of the world sifting through your fingers.” – Deep Look

FIVE FUN FACTS ABOUT SAND
1.) The unique shape of a piece of sand can help determine its source and age
2.) Some individuals collect samples of sand as a hobby, and these people are called ‘arenophiles’.
3.) Sand can be composed of a variety of items, including particles of calcium carbonate, coral, quartz, and shellfish
4.) The color of sand varies greatly, depending on its location and the rocks and minerals that make up the particles
5.) The tallest sculpture towered almost 50ft in height. It took 10 days to build; the longest stretched for over 16 miles.

“Sand can be anything that has been worn down until it’s reduced to some tiny, essential fragment of what it once was: a granite pebble from the mountains; coral from the sea; obsidian from a volcano; even skeletons of microscopic sea animals. It’s also a technical term.” – Deep Look
