HIT OF HISTORY: Pogo sticks were invented over 100 years ago in 1891 by George H. Herrington of Wichita, Kansas, “for leaping great distances and heights”.
Modern pogo stick inventors Max Pohlig and Ernst Gottschall updated the device in 1920 calling it “spring end hopping stilt”. It is thought that the beginning two letters in these men’s last names are where the word “pogo” comes from.
