Words Of Wisdom – The Rock

Today we look at the superstar actor/athlete “The Rock” and digest a few wise words of wisdom he has shared throughout his career.

Dwayne Johnson (The Rock) is many things, a world heavyweight champion, a former professional football player, a triple crown WWF wrestler, one of Hollywood’s top paid actors.

With so many amazing accomplishments what is almost more incredible is that he has remained humble, kind and loveable.

As a child, Dwayne Johnson moved a lot, born in in California he moved to Hawaii to New Zealand, and back and back again.

He comes from a very multicultural family, his father is of African American descent but hails from Nova Scotia, Canada and his mother is Samoan. He also comes from a family of wrestlers.

Legacy

His father (Rocky Johnson), grandfather (“High Chief” Peter Maivia)  and uncles (The Wild Samoans) were all professional wrestlers. Even his grandmother was a professional Pro-Polynesian wrestling promoter. He began learning basic wrestling moves at just six years old but followed his dream of playing football. He received a full university scholarship for the Miami Hurricanes National Championship Team that led to a three year contract with the Canadian Football League.  A life changing back injury took him off the field for good and he decided to pursue the family business.

He has the perfect combination of size, speed, and agility as well as a huge personality for the ring. His father trained him and Johnson made his World Wrestling Federation (WWF) debut in 1996 as Rocky Maivia, the name a tribute to both his father and his grandfather. Rocky, who would later become “The Rock” quickly became one of the most popular and respected and most recognizable names in wrestling in and out of the rings winning the WWF/WWE Heavyweight title seventeen times.

Life After Wrestling

His outgoing and friendly personality was a hit not just in the wrestling world but in Hollywood after hosting Saturday Night live to rave reviews and outpouring of project offers. He dropped hist stage name The Rock launched a successful acting career as Dwayne Johnson starring in countless films including the blockbuster hit Jumanji, and the Fast and the Furious series. He launched his own production company in 2016 Since 2016 called “Seven Bucks Productions”, a name from the amount of cash he said was in his wallet when he was cut from the Canadian Football League. Now one of Hollywood’s top three paid actors, he credits this life changing moment of adversity and hard times to his attitude and success.
